Spanish Mastiff breed characteristics

One of the largest breeds, Spanish Mastiffs can weigh up to 150 lbs and stand over 30 inches tall at the shoulder. 

Size

Despite their imposing presence, Spanish Mastiffs are calm, loyal, and devoted to their families.

Temperament

With proper care, Spanish Mastiffs live 8-11 years on average. Some may live longer.

Lifespan

Spanish Mastiffs are prone to hip dysplasia, bloat, and eyelid abnormalities. Regular vet checkups are key.

Health Issues

Though low-energy indoors, Spanish Mastiffs require at least 60-90 minutes of daily exercise outside.  

Exercise Needs 

Weekly brushing is advised to control shedding. Clean their facial folds, ears, and teeth regularly.

Grooming

Spanish Mastiffs shed moderately year-round. Expect extra shedding during seasonal changes.
