Using pliers, grip the quill as close to the skin as possible. Pull firmly and steadily in the direction it entered.
With needle-nose tweezers, grasp the quill firmly. Pull it out gently and steadily, following the quill's angle.
Inspect for any broken quill tips left in the skin. Remove them carefully to prevent infection.
After quill removal, clean the wounds with mild soap and warm water. Apply an antiseptic to prevent infection.
